ELSP EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The teaching and learning approach that has been practiced by the majority of English Literature Study Program teaching staff is inspired by constructivism theory based on the belief that students construct their own understanding and knowledge through experiencing and reflecting things. The ELSP adopts constructivism theory to enable students’ acquisition of skills as well as knowledge rendered by Expected Learning Outcomes (ELOs). This has led the lecturers to implement teaching approach characterised by group discussions, presentations, problem-based teaching as well as collaborative work within the mode of Student Centred Learning (SCL). Based on this philosophy, the graduate will be expected to become individuals with constructive minded, honest and committed character, professional as well as competent in their own majoring and who have better awareness of diverse cultures.
